With the widespread availability of the internet and technology, many forms of overuse are possible. ITAA is for those who spend too much time interacting with the computer, watching television, using video game and handheld devices, and cell phones. ITAA offers support, encouragement, and resources to individuals, family members and concerned others seeking recovery from excessive internet and technology use.
ITAA is a community of people who have found themselves (or those they care about):
- playing video games for hours on end
- repeatedly shopping online and monitoring auctions
- betting and gambling regardless of the stakes
- developing elaborate personas on forums, blogs, and social networking sites
- abandoning “real life” in pursuit of a “secondlife” online
- waking up in the middle of the night to text
Our community is also comprised of computer programmers, web developers, graphic designers, influencers, social media users or other professionals who use their employment position as a means of maintaining their Internet addictions. They often work all day at the computer as part of their job, only to come home and spend all night in front of the computer.
